Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch cake pans.
  2. Mix dry ingredients – In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar – In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla – Mix in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla.
  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients – Alternate adding milk, sour cream, and dry mixture.
  6. Bake – Divide batter between pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  7. Cool and frost – Let cakes cool completely before frosting.
  8. Decorate with a name – Pipe a name using a piping bag or an edible cake marker.
