Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup optional
  • sliced fruit for topping, optional

Method
 

  1. Bring water and salt to a boil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat.
  2. Stir in the rolled oats.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until oats are cooked and liquid is absorbed.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. If desired, stir in honey or maple syrup.
  6. Serve hot, topped with your favorite sliced fruit if using.

Notes

For a creamier texture, you can substitute milk for water or add a splash of milk at the end of cooking.
