Method
- Bring water and salt to a boil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat.
- Stir in the rolled oats.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until oats are cooked and liquid is absorbed.
- Remove from heat.
- If desired, stir in honey or maple syrup.
- Serve hot, topped with your favorite sliced fruit if using.
Notes
For a creamier texture, you can substitute milk for water or add a splash of milk at the end of cooking.
