  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream together sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, alternating with milk, until just combined.
  6. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Let cool on baking sheets before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For softer cookies, slightly underbake them. Store in an airtight container.
