Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 2 cans apple pie filling
Cake
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional) optional
  • Vanilla ice cream for serving Vanilla ice cream (for serving, optional) optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread apple pie filling in a 9x13 inch baking dish and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  3. Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over filling, then pour melted butter on top.
  4. If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts on top.
  5. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown, then cool slightly before serving.

Notes

This dessert is best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
