Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Add-ins
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans if using

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt.
  3. Cream butter with sugars, then add vanilla and eggs, mixing well.
  4. Combine dry and wet ingredients; fold in chocolate chips and nuts if desired.
  5. Scoop dough onto sheets, bake 10-12 minutes until edges are golden.
  6. Cool cookies on a rack; enjoy with milk and store leftovers airtight.

Notes

For softer cookies, slightly underbake; for crunchier, bake a bit longer.
