Bolognese Pasta Bake

Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 300 g pasta (penne or fusilli)
Meat
  • 500 g ground beef or turkey
Vegetables
  • 1 pcs onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
Canned Goods
  • 400 g canned diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
Spices & Herbs
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
Other
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 200 g shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 50 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Cook pasta until al dente, then drain.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil, sauté onion and garlic until soft. Add ground meat, cook until browned.
  3. Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Mix cooked pasta with meat sauce, transfer to baking dish. Top with cheeses.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, use less cheese or leaner meat.
