Method
- Bring salted water to a boil.
- Add spaghetti, cook al dente.
- Drain, rinse, toss with olive oil.
- Heat olive oil, cook beef and onion.
- Stir in garlic, cook 1 minute.
- Add marinara, simmer, season.
- Mix ricotta, egg, Parmesan, salt, pepper.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Spread sauce in baking dish.
- Layer spaghetti, ricotta, sauce.
- Sprinkle with mozzarella and cheddar.
- Repeat layers.
- Top with remaining cheese.
- Cover, bake 20 minutes.
- Uncover, bake 5-10 minutes.
- Let rest 10 minutes.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use Italian sausage instead of ground beef. You can also add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms to the meat sauce.
