  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook ground beef in a skillet until browned. Add onion and cook until soft. Stir in garlic, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2 more minutes.
  3. Grease a 9×13 baking dish lightly.
  4. Spread beef mixture in the dish. Sprinkle half the cheese over the meat. Arrange tater tots in a single layer.
  5. Bake for 35–40 minutes until tots are golden. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top in the last 10 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
  7. Serve warm with optional toppings.

Notes

For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the beef mixture.
