Ingredients
  

Vegetables
  • 2 cups sliced potatoes
  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 2 cups sliced parsnips
Dairy
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as gruyère or cheddar)
Seasonings & Others
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the baking dish)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Layer sliced potatoes, carrots, and parsnips in the dish.
  3. Mix heavy cream, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper; pour over vegetables.
  4. Sprinkle cheese on top, cover with foil, and bake 30 minutes.
  5. Remove foil, bake 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or paprika on top before baking.
