Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour and baking soda. Cream butter, sugars, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  3. Add flour mixture to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips and salt.
  4. Drop large spoonfuls of dough (about 2 tablespoons each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are golden but center is still soft. Cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For an extra chewy texture, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
