Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour (280g)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (2 sticks)
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar (150g)
  • 0.75 cup brown sugar (150g)
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Add-ins
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (340g)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Method
 

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Cream butter and sugars until fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients; fold in chocolate chips and nuts.
  5. Chill dough for 30 minutes, then scoop onto baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes until golden.

Notes

For softer cookies, slightly underbake and let sit on the baking sheet for a few minutes.
