Ingredients

Steak Marinade
  • 1 pound steak sirloin, flank, or skirt
  • 2 limes juiced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon cumin
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Bowl Ingredients
  • 1 cup cooked rice white or brown
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • 0.25 cup chopped cilantro
  • Optional toppings black beans, corn, salsa, sour cream

Method

  1. Prepare the steak: Whisk lime juice, olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Marinate the steak: Pour marinade over steak. Marinate for 30 minutes to 4 hours in the refrigerator.
  3. Cook the steak: Heat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook steak to desired doneness (3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare).
  4. Rest the steak: Let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing against the grain.
  5. Assemble the bowls: Divide rice between bowls. Top with sliced steak, avocado, and cilantro.
  6. Add toppings: Add any optional toppings you like.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, marinate the steak for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to fully penetrate the meat.
