Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour weighed in grams or spooned and leveled
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • cups light brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • cups chocolate chips and/or chunks
  • 2 tablespoons coarse salt optional, for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream butter and sugars for 2 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mix until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Scoop dough onto baking sheets, sprinkle with coarse salt if desired, and bake for 10-14 minutes.
  6. Cool on racks and enjoy!

Notes

For softer cookies, slightly underbake. Store in an airtight container.
