Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
Cheese
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Liquids and fats
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper
Breadcrumb topping
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cook pasta until al dente, then drain.
  2. Melt butter, stir in flour, cook 1-2 min. Whisk in milk, cook until thickened.
  3. Add seasonings and cheeses, stir until smooth. Mix with cooked pasta.
  4. Transfer to baking dish. Mix breadcrumbs with olive oil and paprika, sprinkle on top.
  5. Bake 25-30 min until golden. Let cool briefly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of cayenne or fresh herbs.
