Ingredients
  

Potatoes
  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Butter for greasing butter for greasing the baking dish

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch dish with butter.
  2. Mix heavy cream, milk, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  3. Layer half of potatoes, pour half of cream mixture, and sprinkle half of cheese. Repeat layers.
  4. Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake 15-20 minutes until golden.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

For a richer flavor, use aged Gruyère cheese.
