Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour 3 cups = 375g
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 2 sticks Unsalted Butter softened to room temperature; 2 sticks = 1 cup or 16 tablespoons
  • 1 cup Light Brown Sugar packed; 1 cup = 200g
  • 1 cup Granulated (White) Sugar 1 cup = 200g
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 2 1/2 cups Semisweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 teaspoon Flaked Sea Salt totally optional, but try it if you like a salty finish on your sweets

Method

  1. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  2. Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and creamy. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until combined.
  3. Mix in flour mixture until just combined, then add chocolate chips.
  4. Chill dough for 20 minutes. Scoop heaping tablespoons onto prepared pans.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 9-12 minutes. Tap pan to deflate, sprinkle with sea salt, cool 5 minutes, then transfer.

Notes

Chilling the dough is crucial for achieving chewy centers. For the best results, ensure the dough is cold before baking.
