  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 4 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce or tamari/coconut aminos for gluten-free
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey/maple syrup
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water or beef broth
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds optional
  • Cooked white rice, for serving

Method
 

  1. Heat skillet over medium-high heat. Cook ground beef until browned, drain grease.
  2. Whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water.
  3. Add broccoli to skillet. Stir and cook for 2-3 minutes until bright green.
  4. Pour sauce over beef and broccoli. Stir well.
  5. Simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens.
  6. Stir in green onions.
  7. Serve over rice. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.

Notes

For a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
