Easy Baked Penne with Sausage

Ingredients
  

Pasta and Sauces
  • 8 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb Italian sausage, casing removed
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • optional Fresh basil for garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook pasta until al dente, then drain.
  2. Cook sausage until browned, then stir in marinara and Italian seasoning.
  3. Mix cooked pasta, sausage sauce, and ricotta in a bowl. Transfer to a greased baking dish.
  4. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  5. Remove foil, bake 10 more minutes until bubbly and golden. Garnish with basil if desired.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute sausage with sautéed vegetables.
