Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 12 oz penne pasta
Meat
  • 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
Sauce
  • 1 jar marinara sauce 24 oz jar
Cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Seasonings
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Garnish
  • optional Fresh basil for garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook pasta until al dente, then drain.
  2. Cook sausage until browned, add marinara and Italian seasoning, simmer 5 minutes.
  3. Mix cooked pasta, sausage mixture, ricotta, and half of mozzarella.
  4. Transfer to a greased baking dish, top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  5. Bake 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden. Garnish with basil if desired.

Notes

You can add extra vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for more nutrition.
