Ingredients
  

Canned Yams
  • 2 cans yams (15 oz each), drained
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mash drained yams until smooth.
  3. Mix in sugar, milk, melted butter, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Spread mixture in a greased 8x8-inch dish. Top with marshmallows and nuts if desired.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes until heated through and marshmallows are lightly browned.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or top with additional nuts.
