Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
Cheeses
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup gouda cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
Liquids and fats
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
Seasonings
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Topping (optional)
  • as needed Breadcrumbs for topping for a crunchy topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Cook pasta, then set aside.
  2. Melt butter, whisk in flour and seasonings to make a roux.
  3. Gradually add milk, cook until thickened, then stir in cream cheese and cheeses until melted.
  4. Combine cheese sauce with cooked pasta, transfer to baking dish, top with breadcrumbs if desired.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden. Serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of cayenne or paprika on top before baking.
