Method
- Cook the penne in salted boiling water until al dente, then drain.
- Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil, add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Mix marinara, basil, salt, and pepper into beef; simmer briefly. Add cooked pasta and toss.
- Layer half of the mixture in a greased baking dish, sprinkle with cheese, then add remaining mixture and cheese on top.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden. Rest for 5 minutes, garnish with parsley, then serve.
Notes
For a crunchier topping, sprinkle breadcrumbs or crushed crackers before baking.
