  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter 1 stick
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
Decoration
  • Heart-shaped cookie cutter
  • Chocolate chips, sprinkles Optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and flour an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually stir in flour until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Optional: Stir in chocolate chips.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Let cool completely in the pan before cutting.
  10. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out brownies.
  11. Optional: Decorate with sprinkles.

Notes

For extra fudgy brownies, slightly underbake them. Be careful not to burn the butter when melting.
