  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 0.5 cup beef broth or water
  • 0.25 cup milk (optional, for creaminess) optional
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional) optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook ground beef in olive oil until browned; drain fat. Sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  3. Layer beef, potatoes, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika in the baking dish.
  4. Top with cheddar and Parmesan cheese. Pour beef broth around the edges.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes; remove foil and bake 15–20 minutes until potatoes are tender.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a combination of beef broth and milk. Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving.
