  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4-5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1/4 cup milk (optional, for creaminess) optional
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional) optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook ground beef in olive oil until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until softened.
  4. Layer potatoes over the ground beef in the baking dish. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and paprika.
  5. Sprinkle cheddar and Parmesan cheese over the beef. Pour beef broth around the edges. Drizzle with milk (optional).
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 15-20 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is golden.
  7. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use a combination of beef broth and red wine.
