Ingredients
  

Sauce
  • 1.5 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sweetener optional if you want a sweeter sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
Filling
  • 1 medium head of cabbage (2 to 3 pounds)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 0.5 cup onion chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 large egg

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Boil the cabbage until tender.
  3. Place the cabbage into cold water.
  4. Combine ground beef, onion, parsley, garlic, Italian seasoning, egg, salt, and pepper.
  5. Mix tomato sauce, sweetener, and garlic powder in a casserole dish.
  6. Separate cabbage leaves and cut a v shape in the bottom.
  7. Fill each leaf, fold, and form a pocket.
  8. Add filled leaves to the tomato sauce.
  9. Chop remaining cabbage and sprinkle around the rolls.
  10. Cover and bake for 60 minutes.

Notes

For a richer flavor, brown the ground beef before mixing it with the other filling ingredients.
