Ingredients
  

Chicken Marinade
  • 1.5 lbs chicken breast or thighs sliced
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lemon Juice of
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 0.5 tsp paprika
  • Salt & pepper to taste
Tzatziki Sauce
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 0.5 cucumber grated and drained
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 0.5 lemon Juice of
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill chopped
  • Salt & pepper to taste
For Serving
  • 4-6 pita breads
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 0.5 red onion thinly sliced
  • 1 cucumber sliced
  • feta cheese, olives Optional

Method
 

  1. Marinate Chicken: Mix yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Coat chicken and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Cook Chicken: Grill or pan-sear chicken until golden and cooked through. Rest briefly, then slice.
  3. Prepare Tzatziki: Combine yogurt, cucumber, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, dill, salt, and pepper. Chill until serving.
  4. Warm Pita: Heat pita in skillet or oven until soft and pliable.
  5. Assemble Gyros: Layer chicken, tomato, cucumber, onion, and tzatziki inside pita. Add feta or olives if desired.
  6. Serve Immediately: Enjoy warm for best flavor and texture.

Notes

For best results, marinate the chicken overnight to allow the flavors to fully develop.
