Ingredients
  

Dry ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet ingredients
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add-ins and decorations
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • buttercream frosting (black or dark chocolate)
  • edible eyes for decoration
  • black fondant or black chocolate for bat wings

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line muffin tin.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl; whisk wet ingredients separately.
  3. Combine wet and dry, fold in chocolate chips, then fill liners two-thirds full.
  4. Bake for 18-20 minutes; cool completely.
  5. Frost with buttercream, shape bat wings with fondant or chocolate, add edible eyes.

Notes

Use black fondant or melted chocolate to create bat wings for a spooky effect.
