Ingredients
  

Bread
  • 1 loaf French bread, cut into cubes
Blueberries
  • 2 cups fresh blueberries
Eggs
  • 6 large large eggs
Milk
  • 2 cups milk
Heavy Cream
  • 2 cups heavy cream
Sugar
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Lemon Zest
  • 1 lemon zest of 1 lemon
Lemon Juice
  • 1 lemon juice of 1 lemon
Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Salt
  • Pinch pinch of salt
Powdered Sugar
  • for serving Powdered sugar (optional)
Maple Syrup
  • for serving Maple syrup (optional)

Method
 

  1. Whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, lemon zest, juice, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Place bread cubes in a greased dish and sprinkle blueberries on top.
  3. Pour egg mixture over bread and blueberries; refrigerate overnight.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden.
  5. Cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar, and serve with maple syrup if desired.

Notes

For best results, prepare the casserole the night before to allow flavors to meld.
