Ingredients
  

Canned Yams
  • 2 cans yams (15 oz each), drained
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mash yams until smooth.
  2. Mix in milk, melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. Spread mixture into a greased 9x13 inch dish, top with pecans, and optional marshmallows.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes until heated and marshmallows are golden.
  5. Let cool briefly before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, toast the pecans before adding.
