Scalloped Potatoes

Ingredients
  

Potatoes
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Layer half of potatoes, onion, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Pour half of cream.
  3. Add remaining potatoes and seasonings, then pour remaining cream. Top with cheese.
  4. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake 15-20 minutes until golden.
  5. Let cool briefly before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or a sprinkle of fresh herbs.
