Steak in Creamy Cajun Shrimp Sauce (Surf and Turf)

Ingredients
  

Steak and Shrimp
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 pound steak such as strip loin, ribeye, filet mignon, etc.
  • to taste cajun seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 8 ounces shrimp peeled and deviened
  • 4 cloves garlic chopped
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or dry white grape juice
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning or to taste
  • 1/4 cup parmigiano reggiano parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon parsley chopped

Method
 

  1. Sear steaks seasoned with cajun seasoning in oil over medium-high heat until browned and cooked to desired doneness. Set aside.
  2. Reduce heat, melt butter, add shrimp, and cook until pink, about 1-2 minutes per side. Set aside.
  3. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about a minute.
  4. Add broth and deglaze the pan.
  5. Add cream, dijon mustard, and cajun seasoning; bring to a boil and simmer for a minute.
  6. Mix in cheese and let it melt into the sauce.
  7. Mix in lemon juice, parsley, and shrimp; serve over the steaks!

Notes

Adjust the amount of Cajun seasoning to your preferred level of spiciness. Serve with a side of mashed potatoes or rice to soak up the delicious sauce.
